The gods and goddesses residing Above the Five Kingdoms are mysterious, powerful and bored. And what better way to cure immortal boredom than to pick a mortal love story to bet your odds upon? Starting with the star-crossed tale of a mermaid princess and ruthless pirate captain...

Lyra Northsea, princess of the opulent Mermaid Court, has only ever loved one boy: her human childhood friend, who disappeared without a trace ten years ago. Now, prompted by a mysterious dream, Lyra sets out in search of him, only to stumble upon a dreadful truth. Her childhood friend has become the deadly Pirate King... and he doesn't remember her.

Heartbroken, Lyra just wants to go home. But the gods have placed their bets on Lyra’s story, and their meddling costs her something precious—her tail. Her only hope to get it back is to hire the Pirate King's crew to take her to Warden's Cove.

To Lyra's surprise, she fits in perfectly with the motley crew—except their grumpy captain, who is far from thrilled with the spoiled little princess on his ship. But there's a masked villain on their tail, determined to turn the game of gods even deadlier… and as Lyra and the Pirate King race to unveil the game of immortals that's been manipulating their entire lives, the friction between them soon turns hotter and darker.

Can they reclaim the love that once bound them before the gods rip it from their hands?

The Princess Bride meets Sinbad in SONGSTEALER, a swashbuckling, seafaring adventure with messy deities, scrappy mermaids, found family, and a love story worth defying the gods for.
